5. Maintenance Cost per Unit or per Square Foot

Normalized spend, comparable across sites. Cost per unit of production for plants, cost per rentable square foot for buildings. This is the analytics and reporting view that matters to the CFO.

Total work orders logged, total assets catalogued, and similar counts grow as the team uses the system more. They feel like progress but they are not operational metrics.

Changing Definitions Mid-Stream
